Particularly OLD tools cna make very interesting images as well as being a record of such items.

First find some old tools. They can be 
a] Garden 
b] Engineering
c] Kitchen
d] Art
e] Craft
f] and probably many other CATEGORIES.

Then arrange them imaginatively in a sort of STILL LIFE. 
Lighting for this needs to be controlled for direction, beam shape, colour and intensity. The Photographers Ephemeris [free] or Photo Pills can be used so you are able to predict how the sun will be on your subject.

The Background will also require some thought. Try not to have a plain single colour. Sympathetic stripes or swirls. Maybe use coloured wrapping paper.
Give your compositions Imaginative names. Take some time to mull over the naming of your work.
